Views:In the morning of November 28, the University-Enterprise Alliance for “the Belt and Road” international talents cultivation initiated by UESTC, China Electronic Trading Company, BOE?Technology?Group?Co.,?Ltd., HUAWEI Technologies Co., Ltd., ZTE Corporation and Sichuan Jiuzhou Electric Group Co., Ltd. was officially established. 19 enterprises are among the initial Alliance members. The establishment of the Alliance is a response to the call of the State’s “the Belt and Road” Initiative, an implementation of the spirit of Advancing Educational Actions on Jointly Building “the Belt and Road” issued by the Ministry of Education and an innovative exploration on actively pushing forward the construction of world-class university and the development of enterprises with universities and enterprises working together to reinforce complementary advantages.
Prof. Li Yanrong, Pesident of UESTC, Prof. Xiong Caidong, Vice President of UESTC, Heads of relevant functional departments and collegiate Directors in charging of international student education, Chiefs of Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Chengdu Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office and other related departments, representatives of members of the Alliance attended the inaugural meeting. The meeting was presided over by Dr. Xiong Caidong.
On behalf of UESTC,Prof. Li Yanrong extended welcome to chiefs of relevant government sectors and representatives of members of the Alliance. He said, in response to the call of the State’s “the Belt and Road” Initiative , UESTC initiated the establishment of University-Enterprise Alliance for “the Belt and Road” International Talents Cultivation as relevant policies of the Ministry of Education, the Government of Sichuan Province and the Municipal Government of Chengdu requested. The establishment of the Alliance is in hope of strengthening university-enterprise partnerships on international student cultivation. By giving full play of advantages of universities in discipline construction, scientific research, talent cultivation, teaching faculty and making using of internship and training platform provided by enterprises and overseas working opportunities, the Alliance can improve UESTC’s international education level and promote expansion of enterprises at abroad and localization of overseas employees, of which will contribute to the construction of the State’s “the Belt and Road” Initiative. He added, UESTC has entered into the university lists for building “World-Class Universities”. What’s more, the scale of international student continuously expanding and large amounts of alumni active in IT enterprises around the world, all these lay foundations for UESTC and enterprises going out together. After the establishment of University-Enterprise Alliance for “the Belt and Road” International Talents Cultivation, the Alliance will actively promote the building of world-class university and the development of enterprises, cultivate more electronic information talents and youths know well with and friendly to China for countries along “the Belt and Road” and make more great contributions to create favorable international environment for China and promoting economic development.
Jiang Bin, Director of Chengdu Municipal Foreign and Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Li Honglin, Deputy Director of International Office of Sichuan Provincial Department of Education, Miao Xiaobo, Director of Technology and New Economy Development Bureau of Chengdu Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone extended their congratulations on the establishment of the Alliance. They introduced plans, policies and project schedules for international cooperation under the framework of “the Belt and Road” led by Government of Hi-Tech Industrial Development Zone, Chengdu and Sichuan Province to attendees. They expressed their wills to provide college and enterprises with more supports on “going out” together.
On behalf of enterprise members of the Alliance, Senior Vice President of BOE?Technology?Group?Co.,?Ltd. Li Xuezheng and Deputy Director of Kangba TV Yeshe Pengcuo delivered speeches at the meeting. Li Xuezheng introduced the development history, industrial layout and international expansion in the future and demands for international talents of BOE. He expressed that BOE will work with UESTC and members of the Alliance to strengthen cooperation on international talent cultivation and to improve competitiveness in global market in the future. Yeshe Pengcuo introduced Kangba TV’s characteristics of serving for Kangba Tibetan Area and broadcasting to South Asian countries, especially broadcasting regional economy situations, local customs and distinctive culture of Kangba Tibetan Area via networks. He hope that Kangba TV keep a close knit with UESTC and members of the Alliance and improve its popularity and effect overseas.
Prof. Li Yanrong, with another five representatives of different department, Directors of Afrindex and Kangba TV jointly inaugurated the University-Enterprise Alliance for “the Belt and Road” International Talents Cultivation.
After the inauguration, representatives who participate in the meeting made a discussion on the University-Enterprise Alliance for international talents cultivation and adopted Alliance Chapter and 2018 Working Plans of Alliance. Members of the Alliance will collaborate on short-term training of international students, degree education, internship and training base, joint education exhibition, job fair, regional research and so on.
A meet-and-greet held for enterprises of the Alliance and international students in the afternoon of the same day. BOE?Technology?Group, Afrindex and Hongbo Group respectively introduced their corporate businesses, international development strategies and demands for talent recruitment. They hope excellent graduates graduated from UESTC could join them and realize their own values in corporations’ overseas expansion business.

Institutions of higher education should put much emphasis on perfecting system of modern university, innovating mode of talent cultivation, improving quality of international students studying in China, optimizing cooperatively running university abroad, pushing forward the development of enterprises and eventually realizing a coordinated development of all works. Supporting enterprises and individuals legally participate in opening-up educational activities like Sino-Foreign cooperation in running schools, researching, serving for foreign affairs and so on. Enterprises should actively corporate with schools in going-out, talent cultivation, technological innovation and achievement transformation for the purpose of serving for “the Belt and Road” national economic and trade development.
